About Maite-Maitri

Maite’s passion for Tibetan Buddhism blossomed at a young age, inspiring her to dedicate her life to the study and practice of the Dharma. Encouraged by her teachers and motivated by a wish to directly engage with the teachings, she pursued a two-year intensive Tibetan language program at Thosamling in Dharamsala (2006–2007). There, she immersed herself in Colloquial and Classical Tibetan, Buddhist philosophy, and Tibetan debate, further enriching her knowledge through the Winter Philosophy Program at Pullahari Monastery in Nepal.

After these studies, she returned to Spain and entered retreat, first completing the six-month preliminary retreat and then the traditional three-year retreat. During this time, she served as interpreter and translator. At the request of the Drubpon Lama, she committed to a second three-year retreat, continuing in this role for another four years.

Wishing to further consolidate her knowledge of Buddhist philosophy and deepen her command of Tibetan, Maite later pursued formal academic studies at Rangjung Yeshe Institute (RYI), where she earned both her BA and MA degrees.

Guided by her recognition of the Dharma’s profound value, Maite is committed to its authentic flourishing in the West. She believes that transmitting these teachings requires clarity, precision, and fidelity to their essence, grounded in deep understanding and effective communication. This vision fuels her ongoing dedication to study and practice, as she regards the path of learning as a lifelong journey. Her aspiration is that the wisdom of Buddhism may take root in the West, bringing genuine benefit to all who encounter it.
